Claude Extensions

Connect Claude to your messages, email, documents and subscriptions. Each extension runs on your own Mac, with your own accounts: nothing goes through a server of ours.

What these are

Extensions are add-ons for Claude Desktop (and Cowork, inside it). Once one is installed, you can ask Claude things like "what homework is due tomorrow?", "find the email from the plumber" or "read me today's paper", and Claude uses the extension to look it up.

They run on your Mac only. They read your data straight from the service you already use (WhatsApp, Gmail, Notion, your newspaper...) and keep sign-ins and copies on your Mac. Whatever Claude reads through them becomes part of your Claude conversation, like anything you paste into it.

macOS only. Each extension asks before it sends, changes or deletes anything.

How to install

  1. Install Claude Desktop for Mac from claude.ai/download and sign in.
  2. Click Download on the extension you want below. A file ending in .mcpb lands in your Downloads folder.
  3. Double-click that file. Claude Desktop opens it.
  4. Click Install. Fill in the settings if the extension has any, then follow its setup steps. The first start takes a minute while it gets ready.

To remove one: Claude Desktop, Settings, Extensions, then the extension, Uninstall.

Messages

iMessage

Read, search and send your iMessages and SMS from Claude.

What you need

  • A Mac with Messages signed in
  • Full Disk Access for the small iMessage Reader helper (one switch in System Settings)
Setup steps

Reads the Messages history on this Mac and sends messages through the Messages app.

Setup: macOS protects the Messages database behind Full Disk Access. Claude does not need it: a small helper app, iMessage Reader, holds that access alone and keeps a private copy of your messages for this extension. Ask Claude to run the iMessage helper-install tool (or run imsg helper-install --yes): it installs the helper and opens System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access. Switch on "iMessage Reader" there (drag it in from the Finder window if it is not listed). No restart needed. Sending asks once for permission to control Messages.

WhatsApp

Read, search and send your own WhatsApp chats from Claude.

What you need

  • Your phone with WhatsApp, to scan a QR code once

Good to know. This is an unofficial client of WhatsApp's protocol, not an app approved by WhatsApp. Using it is against WhatsApp's terms of service, and WhatsApp can restrict or ban accounts that use unofficial clients. Use it only if you accept that risk.

Setup steps

Connects to your WhatsApp account as a linked device, like WhatsApp Desktop.

Setup: in Claude, ask "link my WhatsApp". A page with a QR code opens in your browser. On your phone: WhatsApp → Settings → Linked devices → Link a device, and scan it. Then ask Claude to pull your messages.

Your keys and messages stay on this Mac. You can unlink it any time from WhatsApp → Settings → Linked devices.

Telegram

Read, search and send your own Telegram chats from Claude.

What you need

  • A free API id and hash from my.telegram.org (two minutes)
  • Your phone with Telegram, to scan a QR code once
Setup steps

Connects to your Telegram account as a linked device, like Telegram Desktop.

Setup:

  1. Go to https://my.telegram.org, log in with your phone number, open API development tools and create an app (any name). Copy its App api_id and App api_hash into this extension's settings.
  2. In Claude, ask: "link my Telegram". A page with a QR code opens in your browser. On your phone: Telegram → Settings → Devices → Link Desktop Device, and scan it.

Your session stays on this Mac. You can disconnect it any time from Telegram → Settings → Devices.

Email

Read, search and answer your email from Claude: Gmail through your own Google sign-in, or any account of the Mac's Mail app.

What you need

  • For Gmail: a free Google Cloud project of your own. Ask Claude in Chrome to guide you, click by click
  • Or: any account already set up in the Mac's Mail app, nothing else
Setup steps

Reads, searches and answers your email: lists and searches messages, reads them, saves attachments, and writes replies and drafts. Nothing is ever sent without your confirmation in Claude.

Setup with Gmail (about five minutes, free, once):

  1. Install Claude in Chrome and sign in to Google in Chrome with the address to connect.
  2. In Claude, ask: "set up my email". Claude calls google_setup and walks you through Google Cloud Console in Chrome, click by click: a project of your own, the Gmail API, and a sign-in client of type Desktop app. You type passwords and accept terms yourself.
  3. Paste the Client ID and Client secret Google shows into this extension's settings (or just leave the downloaded file in Downloads).
  4. Claude calls connect: a Google page opens, you choose your account and allow access. Your sign-in stays on this Mac.

The same Google project and client also work for the Google Drive extension. Connect more addresses by asking Claude to connect another account.

On a Mac without Google: accounts already set up in the Mail app (iCloud, Outlook, any IMAP, Gmail too) work with no Google project. Ask Claude to connect your Mail app account, and allow Claude to control Mail when macOS asks. Search is slower there.

Productivity

Notion

Read, search and edit your Notion workspace from Claude, as yourself.

What you need

  • Signed in at notion.so in Chrome, Arc, Brave or Edge

Good to know. Reuses your website login and talks to the site's private, unofficial API, as you. The site can change it at any time, which can break the extension until it is updated.

Setup steps

Search your Notion workspace, read pages and databases (with filters and chosen columns), list comments including resolved ones, and create or edit pages, rows and comments.

Unlike Notion's official connector, this extension acts as the account you are signed in with: it sees every page and database that account can see, with no integration to add page by page. Every change it makes appears in Notion under your name.

Setup:

  1. In Google Chrome (or Arc, Brave or Edge) on this Mac, sign in at https://www.notion.so.
  2. In Claude, ask: "connect my Notion". The first time, macOS asks whether security may use the "Chrome Safe Storage" keychain item: type your Mac password and click Always Allow. This copies your Notion session from Chrome into the extension; nothing is sent anywhere but Notion.
  3. Ask away, for example: "search my Notion for the onboarding checklist".

Several workspaces: Claude picks the first one and tells you the others. Ask "connect my Notion workspace <name>" to switch, or type the workspace name in this extension's settings.

When Notion signs you out (Claude will say the session expired), sign in at notion.so in Chrome again and ask Claude to connect once more.

Creating, editing or deleting anything in Notion always asks you first. Exported agent settings are saved in Downloads/Notion.

Google Drive

Search Google Drive, read Docs, PDFs and Sheets, and fill spreadsheets from Claude, with your own Google account.

What you need

  • A free Google Cloud project of your own (the same one as Email works). Ask Claude in Chrome to guide you, click by click
Setup steps

Searches your Google Drive (including shared drives), reads Google Docs, PDFs and spreadsheets, and can write to Google Sheets when you ask it to. Several Google accounts can be connected side by side.

It signs in through your own Google Cloud project, so your files are only shared between Google and this Mac. Claude sets it up with you, once, in about ten minutes:

  1. Open Claude in Chrome (the Claude extension for Google Chrome), in the Chrome profile where you are signed in to your Google account.
  2. Ask Claude: "set up Google Drive". Claude reads the current steps from this extension and goes through Google Cloud Console with you, click by click: a project, the Drive and Sheets APIs, the sign-in screen, and a "Desktop app" client whose file lands in your Downloads folder. If you already set up the Email extension, Claude reuses that same project.
  3. Claude then opens Google's sign-in page: pick your account, click Advanced → Go to ... (unsafe) when Google says it has not verified the app (it is your own app), tick every box and click Continue. If macOS asks whether Claude may read your Downloads folder, click Allow.

The settings below are optional: the client is found in Downloads on its own. To disconnect, ask Claude to disconnect Google Drive, or remove the app at https://myaccount.google.com/connections .

One Conv

Read and search your ChatGPT, Claude, Codex and Cowork conversations from Claude.

What you need

  • A ChatGPT or Claude account
  • Signed in to chatgpt.com or claude.ai in Google Chrome

Good to know. Reuses your website logins and talks to the sites' private, unofficial APIs, as you. They can change them at any time, which can break the extension until it is updated.

Setup steps

Brings your conversation history from ChatGPT, Claude (claude.ai chats), Codex cloud and Cowork into Claude: list your conversations, read one in full, and search everything across products.

Setup:

  1. In Google Chrome (or Arc, Brave, Edge), sign in to the products you want to read: chatgpt.com, claude.ai.
  2. In Claude, ask: "connect one-conv to my ChatGPT". macOS asks whether "credential-helper" may use the "Chrome Safe Storage" keychain item: type your Mac password and click Always Allow. This happens once; later reads never ask again.
  3. Ask: "pull my ChatGPT history". Claude copies your conversations onto this Mac (100 by default, more on request), then can list, read and search them.

Your conversations stay on this Mac. If Claude says a session expired, sign in to the product in Chrome again and ask it to pull once more.

What you need

  • A Cafeyn subscription
  • Signed in at cafeyn.co in Chrome, Arc, Brave or Edge

Good to know. Reuses your website login and talks to the site's private, unofficial API, as you. The site can change it at any time, which can break the extension until it is updated.

Merkl

What you need

  • Nothing: Merkl's campaign data is public
  • Optional, for airdrop checks: an Ethereum RPC URL (Alchemy, Infura...)
Setup steps
